Homework 2
October 2 Summer vacation in 2007
I went to Seoul in South Korea in this summer vacation.I planned this trip with a friend of Gaidai. We would like to eat Korean foods and see the city of Seoul. We are interested in culture of that country which is next to Japan. There are some problems between Korea and Japan. So I think we should know well each other. This trip was good experience for us.
When we arrived at the hotel which we stayed, most of restaurants were closed. So we went to a convenience store and bought a rice ball. The rice ball was covered with Korean laver and was taste fiery. It was different from Japanese one.But it was good.Korean laver is my favorite food. I bought that as a souvenir. In the next day, we ate Pibimpa as a lunch.Pibimpa is traditional food. In a big stone bowl,we put rice, vegetables, beef,Kimuchi and many kinds of spice in it. And we heat it.It was very delicious. It was better than Pibimpa which I ate in Japan.I think that it is one of the best sustaining meal. We had Korean barbecued beef as a dinnner at night. There are some different points from Japan. They cut beef by scissors on the net. They like to cover them with vegetables and eat them. They have original rules to enjoy it.We were really satisfied with Korean foods.I think that they know good way to make them delicious.
In second day,we went sightseeing in Seoul and Myondon. In these cities, traditional buildings and high buildings are close. For example, Nandaimon(big gate),Seoul Tower and many gorgeous hotels. At Seoul Tower,we saw beautiful night view of Seoul city.Myondon looks like a Namba or Shinsaibashi of Japan. There are a lot of shops and stands, and we shopped very cheap price there. This town was crowded with young people. People who live in South Korea hold their tradition dear very much.So they talk about historical buildings very delightfully. But then a lot of tall buildings stand in many rows because economic growth is amazing there.People are busy and work hard. These buildings show us Korean’s great power. Of course, everyone are kind and friendly to tourists such as us.When we lost the way to the hotel, they told the way in japanese. What a intelligent they are! These cities are so lively! South Korea is a nice place. I recommend that you visit there.
